The difficulty is not in finding free blog scripts. The difficulty is sorting through all of the free blog scripts and deciding which one is best for you. So I think the best way for to narrow down the choices of free blog scripts is to look at the various features of two good ones and take it from there.

My personal choice of the free blog scripts is WordPress. WordPress is based on open source technology, which means it is constantly being improved by bloggeeks from all around the globe, and that there are not license fees involved in its use. With so many people adding input to make WordPress the best blogging script on the face of the planet, it has literally hundreds of plug-in features.

WordPress plug-ins are simply files that you can download which will do nothing to alter your existing WordPress files, but will perform new functions to add new options to your WordPress experience.

I also recommend WordPress because it offers dozens of themes, which means that you can change the appearance or your blogs as often as you like to keep them fresh-looking. If you really know what you are doing, in fact, the WordPress Custom CSS feature will let you alter the language (CSS) that defines its appearance.

You can do this from the Presentation tab of your dashboard, and without taking your blog offline. But you?ll have to pay for the Custom CSS tool to save the changes and publish them to your blog. WordPress is loaded with other paid and free tools to make it the most versatile of all the free blog scripts.

A relative newcomer to the free blog scripts is b2evolution, which you can install on one of your existing websites. Or you can use one of the web hosting services listed on the b2evolution site to select a domain name and create a website where you can automatically install the b2evolustin free blog script.

Using b2evolution on your pre-existing website couldn?t be easier. All you do is add your content to a form on the b2evlution site, hit the Post button, and you?re done. Like WordPress, it also offers customizable themes and skins to improve you blog?s appearance. B2evolution is an open source blog script like WordPress and is regularly enhanced with new plug-ins and features.

One free blog script I avoid is http://blogger.com, simply because it is a free hosted site, and any blog on a free hosted site is subject to removal. If someone even hints that your blog is being used to spam, it can be shut down without your permission, so there?s always a danger that ruffling the wrong set of feathers with your blog content can cost you big time.
