The Newly Broken-Hearted Find Friends, Fortitude at GPYP Blog and NYC Seminars
New York, NY (PRWEB) January 24, 2008 -- When Susan Elliott started GPYP - The Blog! (http://GettingPastYourPast.wordpress.com) a little over a year ago, she expected it would be a way to keep in touch with a handful of students of her motivational seminars. But she penned a post called "After the Breakup" and things quickly changed. Now GPYP has turned into Getting Past Your Breakup and the first 2008 seminar is March 8.
Elliott shared her life story, how she left an abusive marriage and struggled with self-esteem and confidence as a foster child in the Bronx. She shared how she battled back as a single mother to succeed for her children and created a life second to none by becoming a writer, a therapist, a grief counselor, an attorney, a motivational speaker and a seminar leader.
The email response to "After the Breakup" was overwhelming and the need for this kind of help evident, so Elliott continued to post about putting your life together after a tough breakup.
The blog grew to thousands of unique page views a day and visitors quickly became daily readers. Most credit the blog with helping them through their darkest days. One comment reads, "It's like having a personal therapist every day." On the blog comments she has been called an angel and thanked, over and over again, for sharing her hard won wisdom.
Elliott not only takes her readers through the grief process but shows them how to turn this breakup into a positive thing. After six months of reader requests for a book, she started writing, "Phoenix Rising: How To Turn A Devastating Breakup Into The Best Thing That Ever Happened To You" due out this year. The GPYP seminar has morphed into Getting Past Your Breakup and groups have asked her to speak and teach all over the country.
The next GPYP seminar is at the New York City Seminar and Conference Center on March 8 and students can register on the GPYP blog. Elliott is thrilled that so many blog readers will be attending. "They're becoming like family to me and to each other. It's a very nice group of people helping each other through a tough time." But readers say she is the glue that holds them together and many credit her with their success in moving on. "Until I came to the blog I just wanted to put my relationship back together. Now I know it's me that needs to be put back together." Another reader writes, "This GPYP thing is working and it's wonderful."
